Positive Discipline in Action

As parents, most of us share the common aspirations of raising children of good character and helping them develop to their full potential.  However, many are experiencing frustration and anguish because today’s children do not seem to behave the way children used to in the 'good old days.'  Several methods of child discipline that once worked in the past no longer seem to be as effective now.  As a result, some may feel lost, and even confused, especially when expert opinions are contradictory.  To spank or not to spank?  Is ‘Time-Out’ recommended or not? What about removal of privileges?

If you are facing common parenting challenges such as behavioural problems related to homework, computer time, responsibility, loss of interest or motivation, rebellion, and aggression, be reassured that you are not alone and that there are positive alternatives for disciplining children that can free you from frustration, guilt or tears.

Positive Discipline in Action (PDIA) is a highly experiential course that aims to enable and empower you to confidently apply the principles and practices of Positive (Non-Punitive) DisciplineNon-Punitive Discipline refers generally to an approach for disciplining children that does not use of any form of punishment, be it physical or non-physical.

Practitioners of non-punitive systems of discipline such as Positive Discipline seek to respond to children’s misbehaviours with respect, understanding, love and empathy by employing methods that honour their dignity, preserve their well-being and foster their personal growth.

In this course, you will learn both the basic theories (concepts and principles) of Positive Discipline and practise applying a set of Positive Discipline tools that will enable you respond to common discipline-related challenges and to raise self-reliant, cooperative and socially responsible children with greater confidence and ease.

Some practical experience through applying these tools on real life parenting challenges

A more peaceful, enjoyable, and fulfilling parenting experience.

“I was thrilled to learn of Kenny Toh’s work as the founder of the Institute of Advance Parentology. We have the same goals – to help parents understand that non-punitive parenting is the most respectful and encouraging way to help children learn the valuable social and life skills of mutual respect, self-discipline, responsibility, problem-solving skills and social interest. It is an honor that he now wants to incorporate Positive Discipline methods as part of his program. I look forward to working with Kenny Toh in creating peace in work through peace in homes and classrooms.”
